Get ready to switch
The Ofgem price cap is now £1,755 a year. This will change again on 1 January 2026 but we don’t know what it will change to yet. In Northern Ireland, the Utility Regulator checks that the prices charged are fair.
The energy price cap is a limit on the amount it costs per unit of gas or electricity when you’re on your supplier’s standard variable tariff. The yearly figure above is based on what an average household uses.
There are now fixed deals available for less than the price cap. Try using comparison websites to lower your bills.
