Can you reduce your energy bill?
The Ofgem price cap is now £1,641 a year. This will change again on 1 July 2026 but we don't know how much it will be yet.
The energy price cap is a limit on the amount it costs per unit of gas or electricity when you’re on your supplier’s standard variable tariff. The yearly figure is based on what an average household uses.
If you’re near the end of a fixed deal, you might find it difficult to get a deal at less than the price cap. Find out more about how to reduce your energy bill.
